Extended network

The extended members of the YEuCat network help to make our events possbile by joining specific task forces. These task forces are usually directed at a specific event and are thus only active for a certain timeframe. This allows also people to join and contribute to YEuCat who are not ready for a two year commitment in the core team. Besides the event task forces, there are also several permanent ones related to communication, events & advertising and connection to other networks and societies. Get to know our extended YEuCat members by reading their profiles below!

Don't hesitate to reach out to us at info@youngcatalysis.net if you want to learn more about our currently active task forces and how to join them!

Veronica Piazza
PostDoc at LCCP - Laboratory of Catalysis and Catalytic Processes, Politecnico di Milano, Italy

Veronica is a postdoctoral researcher in Politecnico di Milano, and member of the Laboratory of Catalysis and Catalytic Processes research group. Her research focuses on thermo-catalytic processes in the field of energy conversion, with a focus on new processes that align with sustainability and decarbonization goals. Main areas of study include the valorization of waste biomass into biofuels and biochar, as well as processes for low-carbon hydrogen production, with a focus on kinetic analysis and catalyst formulation.

Florian Schrenk
PhD student in TUCAS research group, Montanuniversität Leoben, Austria

Florian has been working as a PhD student in the TUCAS research group since January 2021. His thesis focuses on the application of perovskite-oxides as catalysts for CO2-converting reactions and especially the dry reforming of methane. Therefore, he is using conventional lab-based techniques as well as modern in situ and operando methods such as in situ XRD or NAP-XPS. Recently, his research focused on the fundamental processes happening in perovskite-oxides during catalysis and the intelligent design of those materials.

After attending multiple YEuCat events over the years, Florian decided to become an active member in the fall of 2024.

Verena Süß
PhD student at Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology (ICT), Pfinztal, Germany

Verena is a PhD student at Fraunhofer ICT, focusing on the conversion of CO2 into valuable chemical products. Her research combines both experimental and theoretical approaches, particularly emphasizing quantum chemistry. She aims to develop innovative strategies for carbon utilization that align with sustainability goals.

Since autumn 2024, Verena has been an active member of the YEuCat network, where she contributes to the Task Force Communication.
