YouRHetCat 2022

11.-13. July, Szeged, Hungary

A forum for young catalysis researchers

The first Forum of Young Researchers in Heterogeneous Catalysis (YOURHETCAT) took place from July 11-13, 2022 in Szeged, Hungary. 84 participants from 15 different countries – most of them young researchers in their PhD or early PostDoc phase – came together to discuss about recent progress in heterogeneous catalysis research. In contrast to most major conferences, the intent of this forum was to provide an exclusive platform for the young researchers to present their research, resulting in 25 oral and 30 poster communications. As a special highlight, selected candidates had the opportunity to pitch their projects to a jury in only 3 minutes, followed by in-depth questioning and discussion. Finally, the best contributions (oral, poster, pitch) were awarded by the jury.

To allow as many young researchers as possible to participate in the event, conference participation and accommodation were free of charge, made possible by generous support through EFCATS and Kromat Ltd.

Focusing on the young members of the catalysis research community, this event provided an excellent opportunity for YEuCat to present itself and attract new active members. We are grateful to the organization team lead by Prof. Andras Sapi, who welcomed us to contribute to the event both by organizing a pubquiz as social activity on the first evening and scientifically as jury member and co-organizers of the pitch session. Furthermore, also the YEuCat network itself was introduced through one of our members, already resulting in people joining our network!

YEuCat once again wants to thank the organizers and EFCATS for letting us be a part of this successful event – we hope it will be continued in the next years!
